API Metrology Radian laser trackers are portable, high-precision measurement systems built for large-scale inspection, alignment, and reverse-engineering applications. Using a laser beam and rotating encoders, they continuously track a spherically mounted retroreflector (SMR) to deliver real-time 3D coordinate data with exceptional accuracy.

By capturing distance and angular measurements as the target moves, Radian trackers measure large volumes and complex assemblies without rigid fixturing or lengthy setup. The result is fast, flexible, and reliable metrology – on the shop floor, in assembly environments, or across large manufacturing spaces – reducing downtime while improving overall quality control.

Radian systems maintain tight measurement uncertainty across expansive workspaces, making them ideal for large parts and assemblies where traditional metrology tools can’t reach.

Continuous laser tracking of the SMR lets operators capture data dynamically without stopping to register each point manually.

Unlike fixed CMMs or heavy fixtures, Radian trackers require little fixturing and can be deployed quickly on the shop floor or in the field.

With wireless control and communication between the tracker, reflector, and software, operators aren’t tethered to a fixed console or constrained by cables running across the shop floor.

The API vProbe is a hand-held wireless probe for measuring intricate features outside of a trackers line of site providing fast and accurate manual measurements. The vProbe with a laser tracker can provide more versatility than a portable arm CMM and inherently more suitable for larger parts.
