Learn From Real Projects: Introducing the EMS3D Training Video Series

In-depth, hour-long training videos built around the scanning, scan-to-CAD, and inspection work we do every day.

Getting good results from a 3D scanner takes more than knowing which buttons to push. You need to understand how to prepare a part, choose the right settings, capture the features that matter, and produce data you can use for reverse engineering or dimensional inspection.

The same applies to software. Knowing where a command is located is useful. Knowing when to use it, and how that decision affects your finished CAD model or inspection results, is what helps you get the job done.

That is why we created the EMS3D Training Video Series: in-depth, practical training built around the work we do every day.

Real Parts. Actual Projects. Practical Experience.

At EMS3D, we use 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and dimensional inspection tools to solve customer problems. Our training draws directly from that experience.

Real parts present challenges that a simple demonstration model may never reveal. Features can be difficult to reach. Target placement can affect your scanning approach. A scan may look complete on screen while still missing information needed for the next step.

Our videos walk through actual projects and explain how we approach those challenges. You will see what we do, why we do it, and how the choices made early in a project affect the final result.

The goal is to help you develop the judgment to handle your own work with greater confidence.

02

Go Beyond a List of Software Commands

Short videos and written tutorials can be helpful when you need to find a specific tool or refresh your memory. But learning individual commands does not always show you how to complete a project.

Our training videos run approximately one hour each, giving us time to explain the workflow and the decisions behind it. Depending on the topic, that may include:

  • Preparing a part and planning a scanning approach
  • Placing targets and capturing hard-to-reach features
  • Choosing settings appropriate for the task
  • Preparing scan data for downstream use
  • Building usable CAD models in Geomagic Design X
  • Working through dimensional inspection in PolyWorks
  • Recognizing common mistakes and understanding how to avoid them

By seeing these steps in context, you gain a better understanding of how the tools work together.

03

Understand the “Why” Behind the Workflow

Following a tutorial can help you reproduce an example. Applying what you learned to a different part requires understanding the reasoning behind each step.

Why did we choose that scanning approach? Which features need particular attention? What information is necessary to build the CAD model or perform the inspection?

We explain those decisions as we work through a project. That context helps you adapt the techniques to your own parts, project requirements, and challenges.

Capturing data is one part of the job. Making sure that data supports the intended application is just as important.

It also helps connect scanning to the finished deliverable, so the work you do at the scanner leads directly to a CAD model or inspection report you can rely on.

Training for Scanning, Scan to CAD, and Inspection

The EMS3D Training Video Series covers tools and applications across the workflow, including:

Hardware

Creaform 3D Scanners

Practical scanning methods, setup, and data capture on real parts.

Scanning Software

Creaform.OS

Software workflows that support scanning and related applications.

Reverse Engineering

Geomagic Design X

Turning scan data into usable CAD models for reverse engineering.

Dimensional Inspection

PolyWorks

Using scan data for dimensional inspection and reporting.

Whether you are getting started or already use these tools, the videos provide an opportunity to learn from projects beyond the ones you encounter in your own shop.

05

Learn at Your Own Pace

Video training lets you pause, replay a difficult section, and revisit a technique when you need it on a job.

That is particularly useful when a workflow involves several connected steps. You can review the overall process, then return to a specific operation as you put it into practice.

For newer users, this helps reinforce the fundamentals. For experienced users, it offers a chance to examine a different approach and identify ways to improve an existing workflow.

06

Built on 25 Years of Experience

EMS3D brings 25 years of experience working with customers on 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and inspection projects.

We have also created more than 250 videos for our YouTube channel, documenting a wide range of applications and technical challenges. This new paid training series builds on that foundation with longer, more detailed instruction focused on practical techniques and project decisions.

The value comes from experience earned doing the work, and showing you how to apply it.
