FARO® Creaform Scan-to-CAD Pro is an advanced reverse-engineering module within the Creaform Metrology Suite that seamlessly bridges 3D scanning and CAD modeling. It enables engineers and designers to clean and optimize scan meshes, extract geometric features, and create 2D sketches and full 3D parametric models within a single, efficient workflow—before exporting to CAD systems such as SOLIDWORKS.
Building on the standard Scan-to-CAD module, the Pro version adds powerful sketching and modeling tools that accelerate feature extraction, reduce software handoffs, and shorten the path from scan data to production-ready CAD.
Having Scan-to-CAD Pro fully integrated into the Creaform environment keeps the entire workflow—scanning, mesh processing, modeling, and validation—inside one native platform. There’s no need to export files to outside CAD or third-party reverse-engineering tools, which eliminates conversion errors, broken geometry, and version control headaches. Users can move directly from captured scan data to sketches, features, and parametric models using the same coordinate systems, alignments, and accuracy settings established during acquisition. This tight integration saves time, reduces training and software costs, and ensures that both design and inspection teams are working from the same high-fidelity data without compromise.
Scan-to-CAD Pro includes a live transfer feature to push a fully defined feature tree into CAD as a true, history-based model. This approach eliminates the need to recreate geometry in external software and provides seamless transfer to platforms such as SOLIDWORKS, Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360, and Solid Edge, dramatically reducing reverse-engineering time and manual remodeling effort.
Bundling Scan-to-CAD Pro with Creaform Inspection saves money by combining reverse-engineering and quality control in one native ecosystem instead of purchasing and maintaining two separate software platforms. The same scan data can be used to build parametric CAD models and then immediately evaluated for dimensional inspection, GD&T, and reporting without file conversions or re-alignment. This shared workflow reduces duplicate work, lowers training and licensing costs, and ensures design and inspection teams are working from identical high-accuracy data, delivering faster project turnaround with fewer errors and less overall software expense.
